What is CBAT? (Computer Based Aptitude Test)
- ●If you applied for the Station Master post, you will likely hear about the CBAT. Here is what it means in simple words:
- ●It is not a subject test: CBAT does not ask questions about Math, History, or Science.
- ●It tests your brain power: It checks how quickly you can think, your focus, your memory, and how well you make decisions under pressure. This is very important for a Station Master who controls train tracks safely.
- ●No negative marking: Unlike the CBT 1 and CBT 2 exams, there are no negative marks in the CBAT test. However, you must pass all the different sections (called test batteries) to clear it.
Scored 40%+ Marks? Here is What You Must Know!
- ●The railway board says you need at least 40% (for General/EWS) or 30% (for OBC/SC) to pass. But do not get confused:
- ●Scoring 40% does NOT mean you got the job. It just means you didn't fail the test immediately.
- ●The real "Cut-Off" (the score of the last selected student) is always much higher. It is based on how many top students applied for your zone.
Understand How the '8 Times' Selection Rule Works
- ●The Railway Board uses a strict math rule to call students for the final rounds:
- ●For the CBAT and Typing Tests, the board will select 8 times the number of available jobs.
- ●For example, if your zone has 1,000 Station Master jobs, they will call the top 8,000 students from the CBT 2 exam to take the CBAT test.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q. What happens in the CBAT exam?
CBAT is an aptitude test mostly for Station Masters. It checks your focus, memory, and quick thinking. There is no negative marking, but you must pass all its sections.
Q. Why is the real cut-off higher than 40%?
40% is just the passing line. Because many students score high marks, the board only picks the very top students based on the number of jobs available (the 8 times rule). This pushes the real cut-off higher.
Q. What do I need to check my scorecard on the portal?
If you don't want to use the PDFs above, you can log in to the main RRB portal using just your Registration Number and Date of Birth to view your detailed scorecard.
